THE WAIUKU RAILWAY.
A meeting of the executive was held on Wednesday evening when all the delegates from the three branches were present. Final arrangements were made in connection with flic ceremony, and it is the wish of the committee that the general public will take the matter up and turn out in large numbers and make the day a general holiday and picnic. Mr Hall-Jones was expected to attend Waiuku on Thursday and peg out the spot, which is on the roadside near Messrs Hosking and McEwan's properties on the main road to Pukekohe. Quite a large number of additional invitations have been issued and arrangements are being made to meet a number of guests at Pukekohe. It is also expected that the N.S.S. Co. will run a special trip to Waiuku in time for the function. The chairmen of school committees are asked to grant a holiday, and it ia expected that a special effort will be made to get a large number of children present. The presentation spade, now on view in Waiuku, will be shown at Patumahoe on Saturday evening. The Mauku branch are culling a meeting for Saturday evening to receive the subscription lists and make complete arrangements for the transport of guests.
