PATUMAHOE.
MERELY A PARAGRAPH
Following up your correspondent's remarks last Tuesday in connection with the "bull chase," whereby a bratid new suit was nrfned, it Beems that the leading settlers of this district are frequently getting "cornered" this way. Not so long ago another respected resident here bad an exciting experience with an ostrich, and was also obliged to take to a swamp, and the "dreamß" that have been recounted from the experience mentioned were a frequent cause of mirth at the recent specials' camp in Auckland, and helped to amuse many a weary night picket. It is said that political views were the cause of the ostrich's aversion to intruders; .but it has not been reported whether the Jersey bull was intending to take up with Masseyism or had mistaken the object of his chase.
