A VAGRANCY CHARGE.
To Quit Pukekohe.
In the Magistrate's Court, Pukekohe, on Wednesday morning, before | Messrs I.awrie and Perkins, ,I,'sP., ! William Sexton was charged with i that on the 30th December, 11)13, !at Pukekohe. he w;fi an idle and | disorderly person, having insufficient I lawful means of support. I Constable Willcocks said that i Sexton was previously employed as a clerk in the Pukekohe hotel, but lie had not been working for some two months. He was simply knocking about drinking and had no place of abode. For the past three nik'hts he had been sleeping in a shed at 1 the back of the Salvation Array : barracks. The police would not I press tor a penalty; they only wanted to clear the town of men like this and thought if a conviction I were entered and accused ordered jto leave the town that would be sufficient. I Sexton said ho would plead guilty I to the charge and he would agree to leave Pukikohe that day. On this understanding a conviction was entered, accused to conic up lor sentence when called upon.
