PUNI.
A GOOD-BYE GATHERING. On Friday evening, the 19th instant, the friends of Mr and Mrs J. Payne gathered together in the school-house to bid them farewell on the eve of their departure from the district, In spite of the inclement weather there was a large gathering and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Dancing and music and cards were indulged in., After the supper adjournment Mr Theyers, on behalf of those present, expressed the esteem in which the guests were held and the general regret felt by all at their loss from the district and best wishes for their future welfare. Mr and Mrs Payne and Miss Payne were the recipients of some handsome presents which will serve to keep in their remembrance the v. armth of Friday night's gathering and their many friends in Puni.
