PRESENTATION.
To Mr T. Kennedy. On Christmas afternoon a number of the young men friends of Mr Thomas Kennelly, one of the pioneer settlers at Pukekohe, called at his residence to wish him the compliments of the season. Mr F. Brown, on behalf of those assembled, presented Mr Kennelly with a handsome pipe and wallet as a slight token of the esteem in which he is held. In the course of bis remarks Mr Brown referred to the general popularity enjoyed by Mi Kennelly, to his open handed hospitality, and to the part he. had played in assisting the development of the district. He expressed the wish that Mr Kennelly, though well over 70 years of age, would be spared to welcome his friends on many more Christmas Days. Mr Kennelly, who was completely taken by surprise, expressed the pleasure and gratification he felt at their kindness i:i making the presentation. He extended a hearty welcome to his visitors. With "music, song and story" a very pleasant afternoon was passed.
