In the evening a large number of friends from Onewhero, Tuakau, Pukekdwa, etc., assembled to view the exhibits and to enjoy the social gathering, the musical heme, the competitions, the dance, or a quiet game of euchre. The Misses Foley motored out and gave a splendid and highly appreciated pianoforte duet. Songa were rendered by Mr Voss and Mr Bark, the local school masters, and the audience enjoyed a capital histrionic effort by Mrs Bark who recited " The Serial Story," and Mr Bob Glasgow brought peels of laughter with his account of the woes of a visitor at a country mansion. We must not, however, forget the baby show, for which during the afternoon a prize of 2os was offered by Mr Crawford and a friend. The mothers soon gathered on the platform with their darlings and smiled down on them as mothers only can at such a time. Who would judge ? People fled on being asked but finally on promise of protection by our local special constables, three ladies consented. Finally Mrs Aislabie, Mrs Cathcart and Mrs McKibbon won prizes for their babies. An enjoyable evening closed with a dance.
