A subscriber has asked us to publish the following report of a boxing contest at tho recent Thames carnival. Stanley, who was representing Waikato, was for twelve years in Pukekobe, his father being employed as a baker by Mr Koulstoii. Under the heading of "a good boxing bout" the Thame3 Star says :—" Stanley Waikato v. Keilly (9.3) Auckland proved the best boxing bout of tho carnival. Both lads had met before, when Stanley defeated Keilly in the final and secured the championship of Waikato. On Saturday night six rounds were fought. Stanley held himself well and had a splendid guard. In the fust round honours were about even, Stanley scoring with right and left, and Keilly coming in with a dangerous left. Round two saw some stirring exchanges. Stanley swung right to face feinted for a right to the jaw, but missed and Keilly came in under his guard. In the succeeding rounds some spirited exchanges took place, Stanley slipping about a good deal. Kounds four and five saw Keilly arouse the enthusiasm of tho audience with some determined attacks, and Stanley was fortunate in dodging two nasty upper cuts. Towards the end of Round 5 Keilly forced the fighting and must have pile I up a good many points, but in the final round, which was fa-t and furious Stanley maintained his lead, and though Keilly fought gamely, the Waikato lad wa? given the verdict."
