BUCKLAND.

RAILWAY STATION IMPROVEMENTS.

In reply to representations made with a view to having further improvements effected at the local railway station, a telegram was recently icceived from Mr R. F. Bollard, member for the district, intimating that the Department had given instructions to- erect a verandah at the station, and a number of workmen have now made a commencement with the work RESPECTED SETTLER'S DEATH.

The death of Mrs l.cuis King, the wife of a much respected settler of the Jericho district, tock place recently. Deceased, who enjoyed excellent health, was suddenly with a paralytic seizure, and "ecame unconscious. A medical man was quickly in attendance from Pukekohe, but Mrs King never regained conschusre:9, death taking place shortly after the doctor's arrival. Mrs King's charitable disposition endeared her to a wide circle of friends, and the funeral was hrgaly attended. Deceased, who had lived in the district all her life, is suvived by her husband, but leaves no family.
