PUKEKOHE WEST ROAD BOARD.

The November Meeting.

The monthly meeting of the Pukekohe West Road Hoard was held yesterday; present—Messrs West (in the chair), Woods and Boase.

Mr West moved:—"That this Board, as representing the Pukekohe West ratepayers, places on record its appreciation of the services rendered to tho country by all tl:o3c who have so loyally volunteered in the endeavour to keep our ports open, and to help to maintain law ani order and so avert, in some measure at least, the great loss with which tho country was threatened. "—The motion was secoi:dtd by Mr Woods and carried unanimously. A. P. Home and Sons wrote: "Wo understand that an allocation of £l5O was placed to the credit of a road frontirg Messts Jacob Wright's and R. Bilkey's properties on the northeast side, and Mrs 11. Wylic's property on tho north-west side. As this road is in great want of repair might we ask your Boanl to grant such relief to those requiring the roud bv causing the necessary work to be done before your Boatd goe«< out of office."—Members prosent did not know anything about (lis grant but it was said that Mr Kin lay would be asked about the matter upon his return from Auckland. Mr West reported having interviewed the chairman of the County Council, who agreed to take over the road at Puni, to take over the contracts and to get on with the grading.

A quarryman named Crook otFercd to open up atid explore the Board's quarry at Puni for £2O. —1 he Board decided to make a counter offer to pay halt' the cost of opening up the quarry up to £4O (£2O each) if Crook would take a contract for 1500 yards of metal this season if possible.

Messrs Woods aril Boase were authorised to buy a aray.

It wis decided to write to Mr Joe Roberts, who has taken over Smith's contiact, to hurry out the spawls on the road ready for the crusher, and to ask if he will take a contract to cart spawls from Waller's to Rogers' load.
