Drury and Karaka.
[TO THE EDITOR.] Sir,—ln your issus of l6tb inst., I find that a suggestion was put forward, by the Drury Read Board at their meeting on the Saturday previous, that a portion of the Karaka road district be takeu over by the Drury road district. The Btaied reason for this unusual request waa that the Drury Road Board wished to deal with tha noxious weeds ou the coveted piece of land, and also to have footpaths constructed. As the majority of ratepayers in No. 1 Ward of Karaka district are not anxious to assist the Drory people to construct their footpaths, or to secede from their own district, they are strongly opposed to anv such move. The action of the Drury Road Hoard in desiring a slice of their prosperous neighbours' territory for merely the above-stated paltry reasons is altogether unique. If Drury Road Board are short of funds and are casting about for help to construct a new road out-back—a short cut to Ararimu, for instance! eb, what?—see the trade they woud gain and what Runciman would lose: they then certainly should get. a m c dal for smart business. We are quite eager to see the next "Times" to learn what Drury Road Board will want next. A factory for turning out leather medals would not be a bad i idaa.—l am, etc., "KARAKA ROAD BOARD RATEPAYER."
