Meeting of Committee. A meeting of the general rommittae of the Franklin A. and P. Society wai held on Friday evening; present—Messrs J. Wjlie (president, in the chair), F. Ballard E. G, Phillipps, F. E. Simpson, D. R. Hamilton, J. Potter and J. K. Hamilton. CORRESPONDENCE. A merry-gc-round proprietor asked what the yrie would be for a stind at the next Show.—lt was decided to give the sole right for £9. A HANDSOME BEQUEST. The !o al deputy Public Trustee, Auckland, wrote:—"The Public Trjstee is executor of the will of the late Robert Latimer, who di:d at Pukekohe on the 14th June last.
"The deceased bequeathei his estate upon tru3t to the Public Trustee and, subject to payment of debt', directed that of the income derived Inm the capital of the estate, three-tenths thereof should be paid to your Society tc provide prize money.
"The principal assets of the estate comprise a freehcld farm of about 26 acres at Pukekohe, the market value of which is estimated at from £BO to £IOO per acre; money advanced on mortgage, probably £2600; cash in Post Office Savings Bank, Aucklanl, and in the Auckland Savings Bank, £IOO 6s sd. So far as I have been able to ascertain up to the present there will be practically no debts against the estate."
It n estimated that »he Society will rec ive about £7O or £75 a year. SIGNING CHEQUES. Mr Ballard, with the president (Mr Wylie) and the treasurer (Mr Bockett) vere appointed to sign cheques. NEW SHOWGROUNDS. The president reported that the Finance Sub-committee had agreed to take over the new showgrounds under agreement to purchase. BIGGER PRIZE MONEY.
The recommendations of tha revisers in the horse sections were discussed, and the proposed increase of £62 was adopted. Ii addition it was agreed to insert a class for the beat hunter on the ground, the prizes to be £3O for first, £lO secoi.d, £5 third and £3 fourth; and to donate £5 of Ihe £2O from the Auckand Racing Club's donation to this class.
ThP revisers of ths remainder of the live stock classes recommended an increase ot £34 prize money, which was also adopted. Similarly an increase of £ls 10s in the prize money for tne hall sections was approved,
The president stated that it had been strongly recommended to him that needle-work sections should be added to the schedule, and he thought it would be beneficial to the Society to add the section.—This suggestion was adopted, the prize money not to exceed £lO. A committee of Mesdames J. Wylie, F. E. Simpson and J. Baxter was appointed to draw up a Hat of classes.
Potatoes and onions are to ba made special features, and substantial prizes are to be given. Two new members were elected,
