Miss Jeff", who was quite taken by surprise, thanked tha children, and said how much ihe appreciated their kind gitt. Miss Jeffs has teen assistant teacher at the district school for abcut eighteen months. She took very great pains with the chilo'r.n in their work at the school, and also conducted the Sunday school until the work became too much for her. There is a very general expression of regret by- parents at her indisfosition, and a sincere hope that a rest may biing a speedy recovery.
