POKENO

CREAMERY MEETING, Mr H. E. Pacey, general manager of the New Zealand Dairy Association, Ltd., held the annual creamery meeting recently, there being a good attendance of suppliers. Mr Pac?y gave an account oS the past season's work, and the prospects for the coming season. Several questions were asked and answered satisfactorily. HOME SEPARATION.

Mr Gcodfellow, managing director of the Waikato Dairy Co., met the suppliers and others interested, when he gave an intere-tirg address on the year's working. At the end of the address he had to answer several questions. f.ir J. McCaw occupied the chair for the meeting. THE BUTTER-FAT SEASON.

The local creamery will be opening for the comin? season as soon as the repairing work is finished. SCHOOL COMMITTEE. A mesting of the School Committee was held last Saturday, there being present:—Messrs J. Graham (chairman), T. Gordon, T. W. Ba'ea (secretary), C. Lealheam, D. Harris, and J. McTavish. Several things of interest to the Fchocl were talked over and set right. Several accounts were passed for payment. MUTUAL IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY. A meeting ot the above Society was held in the Poktno School, when a gosd number of members were present. The first part of the evening was spent, by five minutes' speeches from members.

At the dose of the speeches the Rev. Mr Foulkes gave a very interesting description of a journey through ths UnitsdStates of America. After Mx Foulkes' address the meeting farmed a Mock Parliament to hear the first reading of a bill on the "Dairy Industry," brought down by tlis Prime Minister (Hon. R. Lyons, member for Muddy Road electorate). The Bill was read and pasted, and the House adjourned. The second reading of the Bill is expected to cause a good deal of discussion. FARMS SOLD.

Several farms have changed hands here lately. Mr J. Tyrrell has disposed of his farm and left the district. Mr D. Harris has soli part of his farm near the station. Mr G. H. Harris, on the south, has also sold part of his property. FARM EXPERIMENTS. A meeting of the local branch of the Farmers' Union was held recently, when the question of farm experiments was gone into, and I understand that some of the member* have decided to carry out some ex perimenta under the Agricultural Department. SOCIAL. The fortnightly social of the Farmer/ Union Social Club was held in the local hall on Friday evening, there being a fair attendance. The first part of the evening was spent playing euchre. The ladies' prizes were won by Miss R. Perdergrast and Miss Holloway, and the men's by Messrs E. Douglas atd J. McCaw. The see md part of the evening was devoted to dancing. The floor was in tip-top order, and with the splendid music provided by Mrs J. Graham, assisted by Master A. Graham, a very enjovable evening was spent.
