THE SCHOOL
At the meeting cf the School Committee held last week, it was decided to join the School Committees' Association, for which Mr E. A. McConnell was to be delegate. The other members present were Messrs T. J. Lockwocd, H. Barter, Ber.tly atd Aitchison. The lastnamed ard Mr Lockwood were selected as visitors for the month. A concert of much interest to the district will be held shortly, when the performers will be school children as well as adults, and a dance to continue the gaiety. The profits will be to augment the school funds. THE NEEDED MUSIC. In order to obtain the wherewi.hal to buy additional music the Presbyterian choir decided to hold a social. The entertainment was varied enough to please all. Mrs McConceh, Misses Bhodes, Trail, Cowan and McConnel, Messrs H. and E. McConnel, Fox aad Barter with their music, Mr Hirst with his elocution, Messrs Lockwooi and Rhodes with brief speeches all did their part to make a success of the affair. Sociable chatter over the refreshments closed a pleasant evening, over which Mr Hill presided. AN INTERESTING MEETING. At Saturday right's meeting of the Farmers' Union it was decided that Mr Grant Campbell convene a meeting to make the necessary arrangements to stock Hunua river with yearling trout. The question of procuring a veterinary surgeon was discussed, and it was finally decided to confer with adjacent districts about the matter. A hearty vote of thanks was tendered to Mr Fox for his interesting paper on a local subject, "Hunua Soils."
