A BUSY DAY.
The town was quite busy on Tuesday, when there was a gcod attendance at the sale yards, the occasion bt-ing the disposal of Mr Henare Kaih«u's horses and cattle. Cuws averaged about £4 12s to £4 15s, and some fetched as high as £l4.
TO REVIVE FOOTBALL.
Football is to be revived this season, and a movement is afoot to promote matches shortly. BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS LEAGUE. At a meeting of the Bible-in-Schooh League it was decided to promote an "at home" early in July, for the ladies, and also an evening meeting, to be addressed by the Kev. Isaac Jolly, cf Auckland, All the Protestant churches are uniting in thi?, and a successful functiun is anticipated. HOME SEPARATION.
On Saturday evening last, at Awhitu, Mr W. Hudson, representative of the Waikato Co-operative Dairy Company (whose factory is situated at Mercer), addressed the eettlers of the district upon the question of sending their milk supplies to the company's factory, and as a result some 450 cows' milk is promised in Awhitu and Awhitu Cully, commencing in August. The separated cream w'll be collected by one carrier and taken to the steamer for Onehunga acd thence Bent by rail to Mercer. DEATH.
It is with regret I have f .o announce the death of a muchrespected settler of this district, Mr Thomas L. Crawford, of Maiora, which took place very suddenly on Wednesday evening, after a seizure. The deceased was in Waiuku on Tuesday attending Mr Kaihau's sale and appeared in his usual health. Soon after dinner en Wednesday he was stricken and passed away a few hours later, ftir Crawford came from the Mauku (where his parentsr esided fur many years), and took up a tine section of swamp and high land at Miaora, where he •vas engaged in fattening cattle for the Auckland market. He leaves a widow and one son, for whom much sympathy will be extended. WEDDING. A very quiet but smart wedding took place at St. Matthew's Church, Auckland, on Monday, June 2nd, when Miss Ntllie Williamson, late of Glasgow, ard Mr Thomas Mc'Jowan, of Waiuku, were united in the bonds of matrimony. The Rev. W. E. Gillam officiated.
The bride looked very nice, attired in a smart tailor-made costume with tasteful satin hat, trimmed with feathers, lhe bridesmaid was Miss Shove, and she was in a tailor-made costume, with seal hat. The bride's uncie, Mr J. Hilford, gave her away, ar.d ter brother, Mr William Williamson, acted as te-t man. Mrs Williamson, the bride's mother, was attired in smart tailor-made costume, with saal tcque trimmed with o-trich feathers; Mis 3 M. Williamson, becoming nattier blue dres3 with pretty hat; Mrs Hilford, grandmother of the bride, black gown and tnijU3 with ostrich feathers; Mrs William McGowan, tailor-made costume, Hack hat with white wing; Mrs J, McGowan, neat grey costume and black hat; Miss Annie McGownn, tailor made costume; Miss Alice McGowan, hlua costum2; Miss Sarah McGowan. bhek. Other guests were Mrs Rae, in lovely crtam costume, Mrs Mcßae, Mrs Gibson and Miss i'earce. After the ceremony the bridal party prcceeded by motor cars to Mr Bucranan'd rooms, wheri the wedding breakfast was partaken of, Later, a reception was held at Mrs Hilford's residence, ant) then the happy couple lift lor Hamilton and Rotorua. The bride's mother, brother end sisters only arrived from England a few days previous to tbe wedding.
TOWN IMPROVEMENTS. Extensive alterations are being carried cut at the corner premises known a3 Sedgwick's buidings. All the old verandah has been removed and a higher one erected in its place, Uius giving the builaing a much more imposing appearance.
