Faster Mid-day Run
What About the Sunday Expresses ?
Several alterations in the suburban railway seivice on the Main Trunk line have been arranged by the Department of Kailways. The new time-table will be brought into operation on July Ist. For some time an agitation has been maintained with a view to securing an improved mid-day train service to Pukekohe. A notable improvement in the service is to be made in tho new- time-table. At present a goods train, with passenger car attached, leaves the city for Mercer at 11.27a.m, arriving at Pukekohe at 3 15 p.m. Under the new arrangement this train will leave at 12.33 p.m., and will be speeded up to reach Pukekohe at 2.30 p.m., and from that station will ran according to a schedule similar to the present ono to Mercer, arriving there at 5.10 p.m. The travelling time between Auckland and Pukekohe by this train will be reduced from three and a-lialf to two hours.
The present train from Auckland to Papatoetoe at 8.57 a.m. will run through to Papakura. Anew train will be provided to run from Papakura, leaving at 'J. 15 a.m., to connect at Papatoetoe with the 9.52 a.m. train to the city, which will arrive at 10.30 a.m.
The train which now leaves Papakura at 9.55 a.m. will leave at 10.12 a.m., and reach tho city at 11.21 a.m.
