OTAUA.
DRAINAGE BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Otaua Drainage Board was held in the Hall en Monday, June I6th.
Messrs West and MelUop reported having had the top half of both creeks harrowed since last meeting, and with very satisfactory results. It was resnlvd to use the harrow as much as possible, as it is more effective than dragging. A reply was received from Mr Ma-.sny, promising to give consideration to the proposal to have thp Drainage Act altered to allow of rating on the area where so desired. Messrs Wright, West and Hull were appciiitid a committee to get nil particulars a3 to cost, etc , cf a fiord gate for the 10 foot drain. The rat2 for the. ensuing year, as advertised in the "Times,'' was struck, and the clerk was instructed to get rate notices out as soon as possible, as at pressnt the Board is workirg on an overdraft. It was resolved that as Monday is not a suitable day, in future the meetings be held on'the third Thursday in the month, at 10 a rn.
