Special Committee Meeting

A sptcial meeting cf the General Committee cf the Franklin A. and P. Society was held in the office oa the Showground 00 Saturday alternoon; present—Mcsso J, Wylie (president, in the chair), D. R. Hamilton, C. K. Lawrie, J. K. Hamiiton, J. D. Rutherford, F. Ballard, J. Roulston, T. S. Shipherd, J. Schlaepfer, D. Fulton, A. B. Barter and J. Potte*. SOCIETIES' CONFERENCE. The secretary of the Associated Agricultural Societies of New Zealand wrote saying that a conference was to be held in Wellington this year, about August, and asking that the Franklin Society appoint a delegate. It was mentioned that last year 100 many subjects were sent forward for discussion and this year the Societies were asked to submit only those matters of coloiial importance. Mr Wylie was appointed to represent Franklin, but the Society d.d not decide to send forward any matter for discussion. COURT FOU FRANKLIN. The Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce wrote saying that they were willing to assist in arranging a Franklin Court at the forthcoming Auckland Exhibition, providing the Franklin A. and P. Society would take the matter up. The suggestion provoked considerable discussion and the financial and time difficulties were considered. Finally, on the motion of Messrs J. K. Hamiltor end Phillipps, it wss decided, "That the President, Messrs Barter, Roulston, Rutherford and Fulton be elected a committee to try and find out what supiort could be obtained for the purpose of carrying cut a Court at the Exhibition from Agricultural Societies, County Councils and other local bcdics or clubs in thii and surrounding distrcts of Manukau and Waikato.'' ST. JOHN AMBULANCE WORK. . The Auckland division of St. John Ambulance Brigade acknowledged postal note for 12?. "This 12s was only for out-of-pocket the letter pointed out, "and did not iiicluae the time lost by members and which the Brigade refunds to them. It is usual for us to pay them out of donation received. On account of attending the Show in question three members lost payment at their usual occupation for Saturday, and one memb:T the whole of Friday." On the motion of Messrs Phillipps and Roulston a donation of £2 was made. ANNUAL MEETING. It was decided to hold the annual meeting cn Wednesday, July 10th. The decision regarding the enlargement of the Showground is reported elsewhere.
