THE FARMERS' UNION.
\ Buckland Branch.
The annual meeting of the Buckland branch of the farmers' Union was held on Saturday night the president, Mr J. Wylie, Deing in the chair. There was a fair attendance of members. The report mentioned that a number of old members had left the district, but their placea had been taken bv new members, with the result that the membership showed a slight increase, The balance sheet, showing a credit balance of £5 Os Bd, was adopted. The following officers were elected: President, Mr J. K. Hamilton; vicepresiden's, Wes:ra J. Wylie and J. Brsithsaite; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Jeli'eris; auditor, Mr H. Driver; committee, Messrs A Hewitt, E. Wilkocks, E. Pook, E. Strickett, H. Delaney. At the conclusion of the annual meeting the ordinary meeting was held, The remits for the provincial conference were considered, and the president and secretary were appointed as delegates to represent the branch, The project of a co-operative auctioneering company caused conliderable discuss! n, the general opinion of the meeting favouring the scheme. Several members undertook to take up shares.
