ARARIMU.

FARMERS' UNION. A large and enthusiastic meeting in connection with Farmers' Union matters was held at Ararimu on the evening of Wednesday, the 19th inst., to mark the occasion' of a number of the local people joining the Bombay branch. Messrs W. Thomas (president), Clarke (secretary) and a number of members of the Bombay Union were present; also Mr O'Hara, travelling agent for the Auckland Farmers' Union TradiDg Association. Mr M. Markham was voted to the chair, and in a few remarks explained the object of the meeting, giving his opinion that the Union was one of the best of good things for the farmers, and expressing the hope that it would be strengthened by the support of the Ararimu settlers. Mr Thomas followed, at the invitation of the Chairman, and in a happy speech explained the general working and aims of the Fanners' Union, exhorting all farmers to unite and stand together for their own common good, as by union only could they have strength. Mr O'Hara then explained trie business methods of the Trading Association, which he claimed existed for the purpose of Assisting the farmer and not for exploiting him. He gladdened the heartu of all present by giving the latest quotations for grass seeds and manures. A few more then enrolled as members of the Bombay branch, thus making a goodly number who have joined from Ararimu during the month. After the meeting, which was terminated in the u«ual manner by votes of thanks to the visitors, and to the Chairman, a most enjoyable smoke concert was held for an hour or two, in which all joined with great spirit. The proceedings throughout were most enthusiastic, and considerable local interest has been excited in the Farm?rs' Uniot in consequence.
