BOWLING.
" Cock o' The Walk." An interesting game (or the Cock o' the Walk was played on the Pukekohe green yesterday evening, \ when Graham uuiide a bid lor the trophy. On the fifth head the holder, C. Monty Wright, sot a point lead and from then on he maintained his advantage. On the ninth head the score was Wright 9, Graham 5; and on the tenth head, il—s. At the i ighte?n(h head thw situation was critical. Graham was then only three down and with all hia towls gone he lay two within a foot of the jack. It was not an easy shot to draw, as there were bowla in front and the green was uncut, but Wright did it with his last bowl, almost kissing kitty and robbing the challenger of practically bis last hope. Graham had pulled up a couple of points occasionally, but on the twentieth head he was still 4 down 10—12. Wright was lying then and Graham with a hot bowl "prolonged the agony," as he put it, by playing a fast shot and making a dead head of it. The head was replayed and Gnham scored two, 16—14. This meant that the challenger had to score three to win, aa i a tie-counts in favour of the holders of trophies. When five bowN were down Graham was lying two, but the position was subsequently altered hy Wright and the challenger scored' only one. the game thus endingWright 16, Graham 15. This adds another laurel to Wright's interesting record as the possessor of the rooster.
A week or two ago Pukekohe bowling green was looking very naked, in consequence of hard play and dry weather. This week's rain hjwever, has brought on a fine show of grass, and the green Bhould be in good order for Saturday, whin it is understood the Stars will be again played for.
