It was announced that the pigeons were at the statio i and it was decided to have the opening day on the fir t Saturday after the Show, March Bth On that day the Abbott Cup will be shot for. the handicapping.
Mr McCormack raised the question He wanted to know wheth r they were all going to shoot off ihe one mark and then be handicapped according to the 6hooting, Somebody eaid this might result in shooting "stiff," waiting for the biz events.
Mr Abbott suggested that they could start from the une matk, the winner of each event to be put back two yards and the runner-up one yara.
This idea was adopted, and it was ag eed that on opening day all cnm petitnrs will shoot off the 12 yards mark, the hardicapping to be as suggested. This will not apply to the Abbott Cup, for which lust year's handicaps .will stard.
GENERAL. It was decided to continue to employ the threa traps, which, it was said, provided more itteieslirg and better shooting than one trap. In some places, it was pointed out, five tiap3 weie used. The appointment of an official "puller" was mentioned, but it was Fubsequsntly agreed to select s puller on the ground it was said by Mr Gardner that last season tie knew when he went tu shoot whl'h trap would be released. Other shooters r-joined: "I didn't." aid "I didn't." One member stated that he knew of one case wh re the competitor got the trap he w ntd b a piece of bluff. He would say: "So long as i don't get 'that' trap 1 am satisfied." Which remark would tempt the puller to release "that" trap, which was just what the ehooter wanted.
Members seemsd very well pleased with the season, and with the outcome of the annual meeting.
