PRESENTATION, . A most enjoyable evenmg was spent on Friday, when a smoke concert was tendered to Lieutenant Aldred by the Waiuku tioop, in conjunction with t!ie Cricket Club, prior to his departure for England, where he expects to remain for about 9 months. • A good musical programme was provided for the occasion, songs and recitations being interspersed with the toasts.

In proposing the health of "Our Guest," Captain Herroid said Lieutenant Aldred wai one all present were pleased 10 be associated with. Since he had been in Waiuku he had proved himself to be a most popular man, not only in the troop, but in all clsses of sport. He was always willing, and at his post, to do his best, and he (Captain Herroid) felt certain that the military training Lieutenant Aldred would receive while at home would prove a great benefit to his troop upon his return.

The toast was heartily drunk with musical honcurs, followed by cheers foi Lieutenant Aldred.

The next pleasing item was a presentation by Mr A. James, on behalf of the Cricket Club, in the shape of :i sum of money for Lieutenant Aldred to select fnr himself the best cricket bat he could procure in England, aa a mark cf esteem in which he is held by the Club. Lieutenant Aldred suitably responded, thanking the club for their present, also tor the hearty manner, in which the company had drank Lis health. Ks aatured them that nothing would be left undone on his part to obtain the fullest instruction he could get while away, and he hoped to meet them all again upon his return in October.

The entertainment was brought to a close at 10.30 by all joining in "Aukl Lang Syne." Lieutenant Aldred leaves by the Main Trunk Express to-day to join hH ship at Wellington.
