The big increase which has taken place in the mail matter at the L'ukekohe post oltice has added to the difficulty of mail transport between the post oiliee anil the railway station. In the smaller beginnings oi the town a bag on a carrier's back was sufficient. A boy and a hand-cart was the next development, and now two boys and the band cart have to sweat laboriously to get the mail bags fiom the railway, in a short time now the porfcrage will be rendered a still more serious problem, because of the shifting of the railway station and the greatly increased distance to be covered. The time has undoubtedly come when a contract»should be let t> have the mails carried.
