KARAKA.
The rainfall in this district daring December, plus the falls that have since taken place, have been sufficient to establish the pastures firmly for the remaining summer months. December, by the way, only gave 1.20 inches of rain, as against 5.30 inches for December last year, and the present state of the grasses and crops that are still unharvested shows conclusively that Karaka land, while it can absorb an abundant rainfall, can Btill reaißt a partial December drought. The wet weather naturally arrested harvesting "operations, but on the whole croppers have every reason to congratulate themselves upon the season that has been enjoved. The crops generally have been good.
