DOMAIN TENNIS DANCE. The concert and dance given by the Domain Tennis Club on Tuesday evening was largely attended, Mr W. G. Graham in the chair. The ladies provided the Eupper, and the l;all was nicely decorated. A farce by the Whangarata Dramatic Club and items by Mesdames Cruickshank, Hunter, Hawke and Harrison, Misses Tavlor, Foley, Deeble (encored), P. Foley. Hallamore and Mayall, Messrs Hunter, Walker, (encored) and Elliott. Miss Elsie Hawke was reculled for her fancy dance. The function passed off moat pleasantly, and it id hoped that as a result of the effort the finances of the Club will be strengthens! SIX MONTHS' PROGRESS.. Tuakau is growing; slowly, 'tis true, but surely. Take the record, lor instanc, of the last few months: -W. J. Cole, saddler, has pur in an entirely new and enlarged shop front, large plate glass windows, and glass case fittings in interior; W. Strahan, butcher, new engine and machinery for dealing with small goods, and building to accommodate same; Johnson and Woolley, large additional building for the coachbuilding branch of their business; P. A. ('owe, entirely new shop promises now in course of construction; H. Acton, furiterer, shop premises enlarged to double original size; Green and Colebrook, large grain and produce bulk store; the Free Stores, extra store-room ac cjmmodation. The principal streets have been named or re-named and four street lamps erected. Of the new buildings near the town tbe most noticeable is the new Catholic Church. Although private houses are constantly oeing erected, it is a fact , that I'aukau can claim that it does not posses 3 a tingle empty house that is in a habitable situation and condition. SCHOOL SITE. The Central School site question has been temporarily shelved, the Board deciding to leave the matter in abeyance until the householders' meetings in April. Under such conditions prospLCis of a mutual agreement ate as far off as ever. W.C.T.U. The monthly meeting of the Tuakau district W.C.T.L. was held on Monday evening. Officers for the ensuing year were elected. The president, Mrs Hunter, who has done faithful work here since the organisation of the Union, was reelected unanimously. Mr K.
