Senior Cadet Fond.—lt was proposed by Mr Henry, seconded by Mr Howard, that a reply be sent to the Mayoress of Auckland with reference to subscription list in aid of the Senior Cadtt Fund, regretting that the list had been mislaid and asking lor a new lirt, when they would have much pleasure in having it circulated. Tramway Koad.—Proposed by Mr Henry, seconded by Mr Adolpb, That a letter b.- written to the Waiuku Koad Board informing them that this Board had nothing to add to their previous letter adviiing what hsd been dune, and this Board did net see any ways or means of taking further action at present Resolved to bank and b'ind 15 chains of metal between Taylor's and Woolsey's property. Mr McFadoin, who was present agreed tc do the work for £l2 10s. Merging into County Council.—Mr Henry proposed, and Mr Clark seconded, That the Board's chra be appoint.d to canvass the district With a petition with .teiertnce to this district merging into the County Council, it being this Board's desire to have Road Boards abolished, ratepayers not being agreeable to signify their objections by not signing.--Mr Adolph moved as an amendment, secorded by Mr Plgrim. That the following clipping from a letter from the Minister of Internal Affairs to the Katikati Road Board, be read to the ratepayers in conjunction with Mr Henry's motion:—"With reference to the communication from yourself and four others protesting, on behalf of your Board, against the abolition of Road Boards except by petition of a majority of ratepayers in districts concerned, 1 have the honour to inform you that the representations made are noted and the matter will have tne earnest consideration of the Government when the question of local government is urder review."—

The Board sent a farther suggestion pressing on the Government tu take over all arterial main roads and bridges, to abolish County Councils and all subsidies on lates, to leave the charge of the district roads in the bands of Road Boards, any State assistance to be given by loans with sinking ford —On this amendment being pot to the meeting it wai lost, Messrs Pilgrim and Adolpb voting for it and Messrs Henry, Clark and Howard against.

Payment for Spawls. Messrs Eisechut and Benge attended with reference to payment for spawls they bad ready.—Mr Howard maintained that this contract was for metal, not spawls.—After seme discussion the Board agreed to p?.y for tbe spawls. Tilly's Fence.—Mr Henry proposed, and Mr Howard seconded, Tnat tbe secretary be instructed to notify Mr Tilly to remove fence (live or dead) from the road abutting his property within 14 days, or the Board would have the work done nt his expense.— ibis road was recently surveyed and found to be near enough for all practical purposes. Accounts amountirg to £lO5 3s 3d were passed for payment.

• PATUMAHOE.

SCHOOL CONCERT. The annual school concert in connection with the Patumahoe School was held or. Friday, 13th inst., when the usual crowded house was presented with a carefully prepared and entertaining programme. Ihe chair man, Mr J. Golds worthy, occupied the chair. Following is the programme, which was supplied solely ty school pupils:—Overture, Gract Grahan. Debate, "Are we Ofer-educating ou pirJa?" This item-was"WeTT woriit op acd about 20 children took part, all doing their parts in a manner worthy of trained actors. Songs, "Marching through Georgia" and "Farmer John," upper division; recitation, Claudine Gilmore, song, "Cherry Ripe," Eva Irwin; recitation, George Sla-le; piano duet, Winnie Davy ar.d Grace Graham; recitation, Ada Henry: song, Dori« Howard (encored). Japanese fan songs and tableaux were delightfully presented, and sungs and recitations by parties of boys met with marked approval The headmaster, Mr J. Graham, and the assistant, Miss May, are to be complimented on the careful way the children bad been instructed, the teaching and organising being all that could be desired.
