TUAKAU SCHOOL.
[TO THE EDITOR.] Sir,—Replying to Mr Poland's letter in your issue of the 23rd lost : For his special benefit 1 will repeat the statement made by me at the public meeting, at which ho was present, and which statement ho must have heard. The Education Board has never approached mo ro my property, nor have I ever put n price on it, either to the Board or to any private person. My father owns no land in Tuakau, and he is the only other "Mr Tapper " here. Mr Poland is also well aware of this, and his Tiiiiiiondo is made in a malicious spirit. His remarks about children having to walk six or eight miles to school are so absurd as to be past comment. Mr Poland may treat the Progressive League as a joke, or any other way lie pleases. His forty years' residence in the district has culminated in Tuakau being located by an Auckland [taper as " A station on the main trunk line the other side of Ihury." The League hope to 'better this record. Trusting that Mr Poland will see that a personal attack upon myself is not an argument in favour of retaining the present school.—l am, etc A. 11. T.UTEK. ' Tuakau, November 00.
