THE AKA AKA-PUKEKOHE ROAD.
" lIV iiullini'j c.ririuiitif, nor fit tlotiii iiii'jlit in mullet'."
It appears from tins report telegraphed from Wellington that two grants, or subsidies, have been made for the loud (or mads) from Aka Aka to l'ukekoliu In one ease£o(JU is named uo the amount, ami in another £250. < >ur copy of tho Estiniates is not y< t to hand so that we ate unable at the moment to .say whether olio or both sums have been passed or for which load or roads the subsidies are intended. We take the earliest opportunity, however, of urging upon the local bodies interested the durability of availing themselves of these particular sums of nmney. li is not yet quite eleai to us which road from J'ukekohe to Aka Aka the I » purtinent regards as lhe main road. The I'ukekolu- West Ivoad board, h iwever, consider the main road to be the one which runs along Hrown's road branching oil' between the church and school at I'uiii; and on through Shipherd's properly. The hepaitmeiit appear In n |'i i to the Kaslern I Irain road and Waller's road as the Aka Aka- j I'ldii-kol.ii hiirhn.iy, although we an; informed tlial Mb lie so roads j have blind emU I'lieie till remain." ! a lon- shell ii, aloiiy IJiuvva s road

When the whole of the i late loan is p.vpended about half-way along Brown's road will have her i inotallod. Tho hill at the top of j Brown's road has a grade of 1 in 8, j which is something of a sticker, hut i the Road Board is moving in the matter to ohviate this stiff pinch by securing a deviation through Mouldev's property. We understand that the Pukekohe West Road Board will do its hist in the way of securing <ill the Government uvmey available and we believe that the Waiuku Road Board, on its part, will do all that it can to make the lot of the settlers) in the locality easier than it is at present, by giving them better roads. The one purpose of this article is to urge the local bodies concerned to take immediate steps, to asceitain precisely the amount of Government money that is available, and to airange for its expenditure this summer.
