PUBLIC OPINION.
The Fire Brigade. [TO THE EDITOR] Sir. —I have been instructed by th° Brinade to write thanking you for the very sensible article published in Friday's paper re the "Fire Brigade," and am euie that if others had taken thy same view of affairs there would have been no cause for complaint. As the Council seems to adhere to their intention of interfering with the gear, without our permission, whene\er they feel inclined, the Brigade ha:- decided t:i resign and hand io the gear to the Council, so that they will be able to have it nice and handy whenever they require it. The Council also state that we are usi r g 200 feet of hose by their boundh ss generosity. This is not so, as I un.ierstand this hose was promised to the late Town Board by the Pipe Company, to be handed over to the Brigade, on the completion o! their contract. Thanking you again, I am, etc., H. THORNION, Hon. See. Puktkohe Vol. F.B.
