ROAD BOARD MEETINGS.

Held on Saturday. Pukekohe East. Owing to the attend;inre Deing less than a quorum present the mcetingjapsed. Waiuku. BAKNABY'S FORMATION A special meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, 9th inst., to r ceive tenders for twentyfour chains of rouble formation on Barnaby's road. Three tenders were received, as follows: -Gletson and Welch, 3?s per chain; b Brown, 30s per chain; E Pclmes, 23s per chain. The work had been ea imattd to cost 18s per chain, but as Mr Holmes' work bad always been very satisfactory, it was aareci to accept his tender. A scoop belonging to the Board was made available to the contractors at 2s 6d per week. Waipipi. Present:- Messrs Renall (chairman), 0. Kidgley, R. Al-xarder,' A. M. Barriball and clerk, A. E. Mellsop. AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE. A request was received frcm the Pukekohe Borough Council asking the Board's support for the establishment of the College in this district. Mr Barriball Eaid he considered that the Board, as representatives of the people, should certainly support the proposal. The chairman proposed, and Mr Barriball seconded, That this Board do all in its power to have the Col lege established at Pukekohe. The motion was carried. DEED'S CREEK BRIDGE. As this was estimated to cost over £4OO, the Board decided it was too expensive an item for them to touch JONES' ROAD. Mr Kiahau wrote asking for the road to be opened through Jones' pro perty. It was resolved tu inform Mr Kiahau that the road would r.ot be opened till the crops were taken oil'. COUNIY COUNCILS. A letter from the Awa Read Board, asking for support to a petition objecting l>) the atolition of Riad Boarcs without first taking a poll of the ratepayers, was discussed. Fi'ally, it was decided that it wat nut necessary to take any action in the matUr, as Mr Ken all txpl lined that provision was inp.de in the Act to revert to Road Boards if it waa desired. Another fence which was not in its ' proper place caused tome discussion, . and it was agreed to give Mr Craig three clays notice io remove it, as tenders had been let for formation on the road. Accounts trailing £37 7s were passed for payment. Mauku. Present—Messrs Pilgrim (chairn.ar.), Howard, Adolpb. Henry and Clark. AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE AT PUKEKOHE. Tie Board agreed to give this matter their undivided sup ort. . HINGAIA AND GLAbSON'S CREEK BRIDGES. A letter was received from the Farmers' Union protesting against Mhuku being included in any rating aiea for this proposal, and the following resolution was carried unanimously .—"That this Board, whilst sympathising with those interested in the work, place on record their objection to the Mauku Riad District . being included in any area to provide funds for the said works, as ratepayers here would not be directly benefited." PROPOSED LOAN FOR TRAMWAY ROAD, The clerk reported that he had seen the ratepayers interested in this work— Messrs Gearon, Glasgow, F. Henry ard Rowe—and found that the largest owners were distinctly against the propcsal. A letter had been written to the Waiuku Road Board to this tffectA BAD FILLING. Mr J. Henry reported the bad sta f e of a filling in alongside the bridge over the Whatapaka stream, it being in a dangerous conditio!,. Mr J. Clark and the clerk were deputed to inspece the place on Monday, and see that it had immediate attention It was also arranged for these gentlemen to lay off necessary formation on Moore's road, owing to some fencing having been erected. FORMATION NOT STARTED. H. Patullo wrote complaining that the formation which was authorised from TilleyVccrner to his property had not been started, and urged the necessity of it bein? immediately attended to, as the present outlet was dangerous. As there was aome doubt over the coriect boundary it was resolved to authorise Mr Patullo to have the road surveyed, the cost of which not to exceed £l2. WAIAU TELEPHONE. . Mr John Schlaepfer attended and stated that Mr Suter was not disposed to have the telephone at his place, and suggested Evans' as being the next best site. The Board stated that the guarantee they had signed stated the telephone was to be taken from Gleniirook, not Patumahoe as previously notified, so they took no action in the site question. Accounts passed fur payment totalled £4O 18s 7d
