DOMINION C 0 4CB AND CARRIAGE FACTORY. This business has made rapid strides tha last few years and is now an up-to-date concern, turning ont all classes of coach and blacksmith work. Five years ago Mr Adamson, the proprietor, was able to carry oa his work in a small shop 30 feet by 16 feet, and a very limited supply of labour was employed. But alterations were frequently required till at the present time a large and commodious building, containing a smithy, machine sh(p, trimming room, wbeel and body shop, paint shop and engine room, covering some 6000 square feet, Is kept fully occupied. A large and varied stock of seasoned hardwood is carefully racked, anl all conveniences are at hand for the rapid constructed of reliable and showy vehicles. At tha time of my visit a strong 30 cwt. milk waggon, being No. 14 for the present season, was in progress, and numerous sulkies and light carts were in varioa3 stages of constuction. Quite a run bas been experienced un light cream carts suitable for home separators, and in this line Mr Adamson is preparing to meet a big demand for next aeascn. Ba'nws, troughs, portable toilers and triargle swamp harrows are among the numerous, outputs, the harrows being, sent as far as tha Ba? of Plenty, Piako, Taapiri and Huntly, and regularly suppliel ti Aka Aka and Otaua. In tha machine shop soxe of the very latest machinery for coach and carriage work is in op-ration, and a larre blast fuge is being installed for the smithy. A planer of the latest type will dress timber up to 12 inches in width, anl is capable of bein? set tor chamfering or rabbeting. A band saw suitable for cutting sweeps and curves and cuttirg felloes has a busy time, j idling by the sawduit and pile of fell ies at hand. Tb se felloes* are b3red and trimmed by machinery. Wheel spokes have the tenons cut to a regular depth by an ingen'oss machine, and in connection with tha whsel-tyreing a patent flooding platform is giving excellent satisfaction. Two Urge wheels and a very fine drill, which can be set to bore at any angle, occupy prominent plac?s in the machine sh"p. The paint shop is a large, spacious, well lighted room and is full of vehicles showing Ekilful and attractive painting and lining.
