I Farmers' Union. j There was a meeting uf the Waii uku Branch of the Farmer.-.' Union j on Friday evening and a good number were present. ! After the u.iual routine business I applications for a veterinary surgeon were considered. Three gendemon applied foi the position, and after a good deal of discussion it was decided to take a ballot in about 14 days amongst the subscribers to the guarantee fund. Bazaar The bazaar which has been in progress since Wednesday afternoon for the raising of funds for St. Anthony's Eoman Catholic Presbytery was very largely attended despite the unpropitious weather. The opening ceremony was performed by the Rt. Eev. Dr. Cleary, Bishop of Auckland, who came up by launch to Waipipi and was driven to Waiuku, returning to town immediately afterwards. The amount raised totalled over £2OO. On Saturday afternoon a baby show was held. There was a tie for Ist prize in the best all round baby class, over 12 months, Mrs T. Hair's and Mrs H. Adam's children being equal. A draw resulted in Mrs Hair's Trevor being Ist and Mrs Adams child 2nd. For children G to 12 months Mrs C. Elmsley's and Mrs E. McKinney's children tied. The draw resulted in Mrs McKinney's baby being Ist and Mrs Elmsley's Pearl beiu:j 2nd. ♦
