Church of England Ladies' Guild. The tocial given by the Churcii of E'gland Ladies' Guild, in the Oddfellows' Hall, Pukekohe, on Wednesday evening, provided a very pleasant and enjoyable- evening s • ntertainment Ihe first portion of the tvening was devoted to cards and various competitions, rr.uiical item 3 being interspersed. Songs were rendered by Mrs I. Motion and Mr B. li. Andrew, a duet by Mesdames B. H. Andrew and Willcocks, and a clari >• ette sjlj by Mr Ord. Miss played a pianiforte solo. Impromptu speeches caused considerable amusement. Folk competitors underwent tie otdeal, and the subjects were as follows:—Mr M. Wlight, "Hobble Skirts"; Mr H. G. R. Mason, " l'he Firebell Stand"; Mr Wilkockn, "Our Koads"; Mr F. Brown, "The Strike.'' The result of the various competitions were: Impromptu speechei, Mr F. Brown 1, Mr M. Wright bcoby; memory competition, Mrj Barker and Mr H. Shotbolt tied wit'i 18 correct gtu'ts:s out of 24; Bobs, Mr B. H. Andrew; spot, gentlemen, Mr W. A. Willi?, 1, Air li. G R Mason booby; ladies, Miss Craig, ilv: p'lzei were presented Ly Dr Wake. Aft.r supper, dam nig was indulged in, the music being supplied by Mrs B. ii. Andrew, Miss Kight and Mr M. Wright. The committee, Mesdames J. Bilkey, Wake, Bruntoi, R. Brownlse and Miss Beaitie, wiih Mrs Willeocks as secretary, aie to be congratulated on the social and financial success attending their etforts
