The Fire Brigade.
[TO THE EMI OK.] Sir,— Durii g tb. past week I was approach d by a memt.er of the Volunteer Fire Brigade fir a subscription to i.roviue futds to erect a f-tand for the fire hell. I certainly think this mode of procuring the wherewithal of obtaining proper accommodation for the bell is a disgrace to "a town the size and importance of Pukekohe. This surely is purely a question for our Bornugh Council, whom I think shculi find ways acd means of equipping the Fire Brigade in a thoroughly efficie t man r er. Th ; men their.selven are making a great sacrifice in giving their time and taking a great risk to limb and life, without having *o canvass the town for subscriptions to provide them with necessary equipment to carry out their work. —I am, etc., T. B. HURLEY.
