WINTER DAIRYING.
Successful at Mercer. During the past five yesirs there has been a considerable increase in dairying about Mercer. From a low price the land has gone up in value as its productive capacity has come to bo realised —but there is further expansion in store. New valleys and fiats have been opened up, while the hill clearings have added to the dairying and sheep country. As an instance of what can be done in the way of winter dairying at Mercer, Messrs Coultas and Martin, of the River View Estate have received a letter from Mr Goodfellow, of the Waikato Co-op. Dairying Co., congratulating them on receiving the biggest cheque paid out to any supplier for the month of July. This speaks well for the energy and ability displayed by the two partners, whose present farm was, a few years ago, a wilderness of ti-tree and fern. Messrs Coultas and Martin iutend carrying on their industry on a larger scale, as they have large areas of land admirably suited for dairying at all seasons of the year.
