% The Gun Club held two sweepstakes on Saturday, the first resulting in B. McGahan gaining first place with W. Deeble second. In the second "shoot" Messrs L. and C. Eyre Garried off the j honours. A few more new members were enrolled and the club now stands in a very healthy way. A meeting of the Tuakau branch of the Sports Protection League was held on Thursday to consider two resolutions now being passed by the branches. This branch decidod to support the Board of Control in its intended action regarding Mr Hunter's proposed Gaming Act, 1911, Amendment Bill. We have some 50 members and names are still coming in. New buildings are appearing in all directions, giving proof of tho advancement of our town. Mr Deeble has had some additional rooms added to his house. Mr E. Matuschka is having built a new homestead and Mr Madill's house is close on finished. Mr Bevoll proposes to immediately add a supper room and enlarge the body of the hall.
