Lecture in the Methodist Church.

The Methodist Cnurch in Pukekohe was crowded on Monday ovening, the occasion being a lecture by the Rev. E. P. 151amires on " Jerusalem." Tho Rev Nixon presided. The lecturer, who had recently visited Palestine, described many historical events in tho successive peiiods of the life of tho ancient and holy city, which lie declared had given more of value to tho world than Athens or Rome or London, and graphic representations were made of the sacred sites in the city aud its environs of to-day. These included " A morning on the Temple Area," " A Ride to Bethel and Mizpah," " Bethany and Olivet," "Christmas Day in Bethlehom," and " Golgotha and tho Garden Tomb." These wore illustrated by a line series of lantern pictures. During tin 1 evening Mrs I'ilkingion sang " The Holy City, ' and Mrs Blamires rendered "There is a Green Ilill Far Away." These were sung effectively, as was also a quartette, "Jerusalem the Golden," by j\l esdn me-, lilan : ; ies and Howard, Messrs Cumin and Foster.
