Post Office for The Elbow.

To THE EMTOK

Silt, —The need for a sub-post office and telephone bureau is being greatly felt by farmers and others resident in the locality adjacent to the eastern end of the Aka Aka swamp, and generally known as The Elbow. There are fully fifteen householders whose establishments embrace about forty adults, who now have either to travel some three miles to Puni or Aka Aka sub-post offices to get their mails or to send telegrams ; or else depend upon delivery by the grocer's cart twice a week, and telegrams are often received two or three days after arrival at the sub-post office. At present settlers o-ctting from town <iro uncertain when t<> go to the station for them, aud sometimes make a trip only to find their things have not arrived* The settlers are increasingly feeling the drawbacks to which they are subject in this respect, and the opinion is strongly expressed that reliof from the present unsatisfactory position should be afforded by the establishment of a sub-office, together with a telephone bureau, which could be taken charge of by some reliable resident in the vicinity. A special mail bag for such sub-office could be carried by the regular delivery to Puni, and arrangements for its conveyance thence to its destination could be made. Recommendation in this matter, if forwarded to the authorities, should, and doubtless would, receive every consideration and so relieve from great inconvenieiice a number :>f people now adversely affected —I am. etc , S. E. HKVUY. Aka Aka, June 2!»th.
