PIGS IN THE OATS.
CLAIM FOR £3O DAMAGES. Son Pays Father £lO. ■ Id the Magistrate's Court, Pukckohe, on Friday last, before Mr F. V. Frazer, S.M. The claim of J. Learning against G. H. Learning, farmers of Waiau Pa, set out that during the months of January, February and March, 1912, about 14 pigs trespassed on the land of the plaintiff at Waiau Pa, Patttmahoe, and dostroyed about 4 A acres of plaintiff's oats, for which £3O damages jras' claimed. Mr Endean (of En dean and Ilolluway) appeared for the plaintiff. After evidence for the plaintiff had been heard, Mr Haddow (for the defendant), said that defendant had paid £lO into Court in payment of the damage. There was not a sufficient fence between the parties, and other animals than the defendant's were in the oats. Evidence was to- the effect that both before and after the oats were cut plaintiff's cows and horses had been in the paddock; and farther that when the defendant's pigs got in the oats were then in a rotting condition. A witness for the defence assessed tht* value of the oats, in sheaf, at a little over £B.
