Kitchen Evening. Miss Jessie Stewart, who is to be married shortly, was the guest pf honour at a largely attended kitchen evening which was held in the hall on Wednesday evening. During the evening the Rev. W. T. Brabyn, on behalf of the Tennis Club, presented Miss Stewart with a pair of blankets and a set of towels, referring to the great assistance rendered the club by the guest in matches and tournaments. On behalf of the residents of Tirau Mr. Brabyn handed Miss Stewart a large collection of useful gifts. In the unavoidable absence oi the bridegroom to be, Messrs. A. Stewart and C. Bowler returned thanks on behalf of the recipient. Dancing was indulged in and a pleasant evening terminated with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
