LADIES V. MEN. Win for Former. During the we'ek a cricket match was played between the hockey girls and the Putaruru Cricket Club. In order to equalise things, the men were made to bowl underarm, to play left-handed and to retire when double figures were reached.

Both sides entered thoroughly into the spirit of the game, and an enjoyable afternoon was spent, a picniclike effect being given by the dispensing of afternoon tea provided by the ladies.

The girls won by 37 runs, Misses Coupe and R. Gallagher reaching double figures, the former making 76 runs in the two innings. The details of the scores are as follows:
