MORRINSVILLE. Keen Demand for Pigs. The attendance was one of the largest seen at a Morrinsville saleyard for a considerable time. Prices generally were good, practically a total clearance of stock being effected. A feature of the beef section was the large entry of bullocks, the 120 penned all being sold at prices ranging up to £l6 17s 6d. The average was in the vicinity of £l4 10s. Other beef lines were well represented, cows and young stock selling well. Ox beef was slightly below quotations at last sale. A good yarding of sheep, all fats, met with keen competition, late rates being fully maintained. All classes of pigs were penned heavily, and, with the exception of a weakening tendency in baconers, prices were firm. Competition was keen for good stores, slips and weaners, the high late rates being maintained. Stores were especially in demand. In the dairy section a good assortment was offered to buyers and bidding was brisk for lilies showing quality. Prices’were:—

Beef.— Heavy bullocks £ls 2s 6d to £l6 17s 6d. Medium bullocks £l3 17s 6d to £l4 17s 6d. Light bullocks £l3 10s to £l3 17s 6d. Heavy fat cows £lO 10s to £l2 7s 6d. Medium fat cows £8 15s to £lO. There was a good yarding of beef and a heavy one of store cattle at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday. Sheep sold at late rates, while a heavy yarding of all classes of porkers and good store pigs and weaners sold under keen competition. Baconers went at slightly easier prices. Beef.—

At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Frankton sale on Tuesday there was a good yarding of fat cattle and sheep and an average yarding of stores. Prime fat bullocks were in keen demand and sold at late rates. Cow beef and fat ewes were slightly easier, while store cattle maintained their values. A heavy yarding of fat and store pigs met

with good competition. Baconers averaged 7Ad and porkers 7d per pound. Dairy cattle came forward in large numbers, and good-quality dairy cows were eagerly sought after.
