What is called “ The Table of the Marshals,” a remarkable work of art of Napoleonic days, has been sold for 400,000 francs (£3200) at the auction of a collection .which belonged to the late Prince de la Moscowa, a descendant of the famous Marshal Ney (says the Paris correspondent of the Daily Chronicle). It was ordered by Napoleon in 1806 from Sevres. It was made in hard porcelain. In the centre of the round table is a portrait of the Emperor Napoleon sitting on his throne. All around are the portraits of 13 marshals of the Emperor’s army. It was bought by Messrs. Dunveen; but, according to French law, the Minister of Fine Arts claimed his right of premption, and the table will in all probability go to the Napoleonic museum of La Malmaison.
