"foi the season, nearly 295 tons, is 'very satisfactory, and creates an■ofher record for the factory, exceeding last year’s production by 06 tons. The quality of the cheese has been "well maintained. Of 3631 crates graded for export 71i per cent, has been recorded as finest, 25 per cent, as-first and only 31 per cent, as second. : i Owing to two good f.o.b. sales having been made covering the whole Of the season’s export output (AugustNo vcmbor 9Jd and December-June 9d) the figures revealed for sales . make a good showing. y As in the 1927-28 season, cheese ' shipments have been frequent, and this has reflected favourably in reduced interest and freezing charges. The average advance payments made to suppliers for the season .amount to Is 6.71 d per pound of butterfat. As export stocks at July 31 have since been realised and mediums are taken in at a conservative amount the trading figures disclose that it is possible to make a final payment on the season’s butterfat of lid per pound, bringing the total to Is 8:21d. Extensive alterations have been made to the main building and addiplant installed, including two vats (capacity now five vats), and a new and larger engine, which have . considerably added to the value of the factory and should tend towards v a more economical working of future
milk supply. The statistics for the year ended on July 31, 1929, are : Pounds of cheese made, 660.267-* ; pounds of milk received, 6,465,756 ; pounds of butterfat, 244,765.71 ; average test, 3.77 ; pounds of milk to make one pound of cheese, 9.95 ; pounds of cheese to one pound of butterfat, 2.71 ; pounds of cheese from 100 pounds of milk, 10.21 ; factory payout per nound of butterfat last season, 1927-28, Is 63d ; approximate number of cows supplying factory, .1200 j average pounds of butterfat ■per cow, 200.
