“ It seems to me that the progress of New Zealand in the future depends more on the old boys of the various secondary schools than on any other class of the community,” said the Rev. Father Dowling, rector of St. Patrick’s College, at the college old boys’ function. “ From amongst the ranks of the old boys of the colleges there will emerge the leaders who are to be in the forefront of this progress.” If these old boys followed the ideals of their predecessors the future of New Zealand would be In very safe hands.
