PlTAKtrUti CLUB. , Annual Meeting, j A Successful Season. The animal meeting of the Putaxuru Bowmig Club was hem 1-1 .he Oddfellows irj.aU on Monday evening, ■when the president, Mr. A. G. Leggatt, presided over a representative attendance. In brieliy reviewing the past season’s operations, Mr. Leggatt, after referring with regret to tne lact -that the club were -not represented at the annual bowling tournament at •Cambridge last season, stated that the grounds were improving, but there was room for further improvement, and he appealed to members to assist the committee and officers in this respect. The green needed more work and members were asked to co-operate in bringing about ? better green. He looked forward to an earlier and more successful season. (Applause). Election of Officers. President, Mr. A. G. Leggatt; vicepresidents, Messrs. J. Francis, \W. Yandie; committee, Messrs. T. F. Snell, J. JR. O. Lochhead, J. Murphy, S. Hudson, J. King; greenkeeper, Mr. A. G. Leggatt. When the question of the appointment of a representative to attend the South Auckland Bowling Centre ■was brought up, Mr. J. Francis gave it as his opinion that a member of the local club should be appointed in preference to having an outsider as their representative.
Mr. Lochhead agreed with this view. Mr. Lochhead fiz s elected the delegate to the centre. Subscription. It was decided that the subscription snould remain as previously. New Members. Seven active new members and three a.no.aiy members were''elected- „ Thanks. Mr. Lochhead, in moving a comprehensive vote of thanks to the outgoing officers and the ladies, stated that bowling possessed a better name outside Puraruru than at home and the officers could justly claim the credit for the good name obtained by the club, in paying a tribute to the ladies, Mr. Lochhead stated that the club owed a great deal to them, for practically the whole work of the entertainment portion of the club’s activities fell on them. Mr. Snell seconded the motion, which was seconded the motion, which wks carried by acclamation. General. In response to a suggestion from the Bowling Association of New Zealand that members of bowling clubs should contribute Is towards the earthquake relief fund, members gave donations, and the amount subscribed more than doubled the sum suggested. A vote of thanus was accorded Mr. J. King for the trophy he donated last season. Messrs. A. G. Leggatt, Hollard, J. Campbell and Hudson promised to donate trophies for the coming season, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the donors. It was decided to reduce the rent of the lockers in the paviliion to 3s fid for large and 2s 6d for small lockers. Presentation of Trophies. Following the annual meeting the president, Mr. A. G. Leggatt presented the trophies won during the season. As each recipient rnip forward he I was greeted with a hearty round of applause. Championship Singles.—Mr. E. Hollard. Handicap Singles—Mr. T. F. Snell. Novice Singles.—Mr. J. Campbell. Mr. J. Campbell, who partnered Mr. W. Yandle in the handicap pairs, Received a handsome fountain pen.
