Stock Sales.

MATAMATA. There was a medium yarding of cattle and a small yarding of pigs at the fortnightly Matamata sale conducted by Dalgety and Co. on Wednesday. There was a good clearance at late rates. Prices were:— Beef Cattle.— Fat heifers, £ll Is. Fat cows, £7 to £B. Ordinary cows, £6 to £6 Bs. Stores, £4 to £4 17s 6d. Boners, £2 2s to £3 14s. 14 3-year-old f.c. steers, £8 10s. Dairy Cattle.— Jersey cows, £9 5s to £ll. Holstein cows; £lO 5s to £l2 10s. Holstein heifers, 2 and 3-year, £lO 10s to £lO 15s. Jersey heifers, £lO 5s to £ls Ss. Holstein yearling heifers, £4 7s- Cd to £6. Pigs.— Good stores, 355. Lighter, 25s to 30s. Sheep.— Mixed sex woolly hoggets. 23s 6d. Smaller sorts, 13s 9d to 18s Id.

MORRINSVILLE. There was an extra large yarding of dairy ana store cattle at' Dalgety and Co.’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday. Competition was keen throughout, and good quality dairy heifers attracted spirited bidding. In one ease the price reached £l6 15s for a 2-year Jersey heifer, close to nrofit. There was a smaller yarding of beef than usual, few sheep and no pigs. Prices were:— Beef.— Fat cows, £9 to £l2 ss. Light cows, £6 10s to £S. Store .cows, £3 17s to £4 10s. Fat stags, aged, £lO. Yearling heifers, £4 12s to £5 7s 6d. Other heifers, small, £3 2s 6d to £4 2s.

Sheep.— . M.S. store hoggets, 18s 6d. Dairy Cattle.— ,/Ccws, backward calvers, £9 10s to £l2. Poor conditioned Shorthorn cows, aged, £6 10s to £B. Three-quarter cows, £4 to £5. Heifers, Jersey, £l4 15s to £l6 15s, . Jersey cross heifers, £8 10s to £ll. Small and inferior heifers, £6 to £7 15s. Bulls;. + Wo _voar-n’ds to- £lO ss; rough sorts £6 to £B. WAIHOU. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Waihou sale on Friday there was an average yarding of cattle and pigs but sheep were very poorly represented. Competition was keen and good prices were realised for beef, cattle and dairy stc'ck.

Sheep.— Fat ewes 275. Light fat hoggets 225. Beef.— Medium fat bullocks £lO 10s. Heavy fat cows £9 15s to £lO 10s. Medium fat cows £8 5s to £9 7s 6d. Light fat cows £6 15s to £B. Fo 1 ward-conditioned cows £5 to £6 6s. Fresh store cows £4 to £4 17s 6J. Stores £3 to £3 17s 6d. Empty heifers £4 15s to £5 9s.

Pigs.— Fat baconers £3 to £3 4s. Porkers £2 to £2 10s. Sows with litters £3 to £3 10s. light porkers 32s 6d to 395. Good stores 14s 6d to 21s. Dairy Stock.—Jersey-cross forward cows in calf £ll to £l3 10s. Backward sorts £7 15s to £9. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s sale in the Frankton yards 'on Tuesday there was an average yarding of beef, store cattle and sheep. , Bidding was brisk, and late rates were maintained throughout. There was a good yarding of pigs, consisting mainly of stores and slips, which sold readily at increased prices. There was also a good offering of bobby calves, and these sold at increased prices.

Cattle.— Light fa), steers, £lO 11s. Fat cows and heifers, £9 5s to £lO 12s. Medium fat cows, £7 17s to £9. Light, £6 7s 6d to £7 12s Gd. Forward, cows, £5 2s 6d to £6 3s. Store cows, £3 10s to £5. Boner cows, £2 12s 6d to £3 3s. Forward-conditioned steers, £9 4s. Small steer calves, £2 to £3 19s. Heifer calves, 345. Sheep.— Fat, and forward wethers, £1 10s 6d. Fat hoggets, £1 5s 3d to £1 12s. Fat ewes, 27s 6d. Good-framed store ewes, 19s to 225. Backward ewes, 255. Bobby Calves.— Bobby calves, 9s to 14s. Small, 6s to 8s 6d. Weaners, 9s to 18s. , CLEARANCE SALES. Mr. C. D. Lash. There was a good attendance and satisfactory prices ruled at the clearing sale held last week by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company on account of Mr. C. D. Lash, No. 1 road, Waitoa. The day was disagreeably wet and cold. Heifers sold up to £IS 10s, and cows up to £l7.- The purchasers were as follow: Cows.—-M. Coumbe, one at £l4 10s; J. Lewer, one at £l4, one at £l4 10s, one at £l3 10s, and one at £ls; R. J. Flynn, one at £ll 10s, two at £9, onet at £9 10s, two at £7 10s; A. D. Fielder, one at £ls, one at £l3 10s; W. Craig, one at £9, one at £B, one at £11; R. W. Malcolm, one at £7 ss, one at £B, one at £l3, two at £5, two at £l2 10s; H. Harkness, one £l4, one at £l3 ss, one at £l4 and one at £l7; T. Sharkey, one at £l2 10s; D. Johnston, one at £l4, one at £l4 10s; Mclntosh, one at £7 ss; A. Hunger, one at £8 ss, one at £7 ss; J. Laurie, one at £8: W. J. Nicol, one at £l4 10s, one at £l6. Five Jqrsev heifer yearlings were sold to Mr. Malcolm at £5 each. A Jersey bull was purchased by Mr. P. : J. Flynn at £8 10s and another bull by Mr. C. R. Nicol at £9. A chestnut gelding brought £l4, and a bay mare was knocked dpwn j for £3. | Furniture, farm implements and j sundries sold at satisfactory prices. A set of disc harrows made £8 10s, a spring cart £l7 10s, an S.F. plough £3 7s 6d. Fowls sold at 4s 6d, 5s 6d and Bs, the best price being given foe purebred White Leghorns. The farm vacated by Mr. Nash was formerly part of the farm of M-. Malcolm, who has again acquired possession.

Mrs. F. Richmond. There was a large attendance of buyers at the clearing sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company on Mrs. F. Richmond’s property, Rinuera, on Tuesday, and good prices were realised for the lots sold. The herd, which was mostly Jersey, Jersey-cross and Shorthorn strains, returned 19,700 pounds of butterfat during the past season, with 17 heifers in the total of 70. Top price was paid by Mr. Drennan, Papakura, who was also the largest buyer, taking lots at £l7, £l6 10s (2) £l6 (4), £ls 10s, £ls (3), £l4 (3) a total of £216 10s for 14 animals. Other buyers 'were : Mr. Newell, Tokoroa, £l2 (3), £7 (2), £ll 10s (3), £ll (2), £lO 10s, £9 10s (2); Messrs. Redshaw and Sons, Waihou, £ll 10s, £l2 10s, £lO 10s, £ll ; Mr. F. Richmond, Hinuera, £l6 (2), £ls 10s, £ls 10s, £l2 10s ; Mr. F. J. Downie, Peria,‘£ll, £ll 10s, £9 ; Mr. J. Barron, £l3 10s, £l4 10s ; Mr. McKenna, Waharoa, £l2 (2), £l2 10s ; Mr. Hall, Waharoa, £ls ; Mr. F. J. Goodwin, Te Poi, £l4 10s ; Mr. C. E. Wood, Hinuera, £l2 ; Mr. E. J. Kilbride, Matamata, £l3. The average for the above herd was £l2 15s and the aggregate £635. A number of three-teaters and others in the herd were purchased as follow : Mr. T. Bottomley, £6 15s, £6 -2s 6d (2), £1 (lame cow); Mr. E. W. R. Leslie, Putaruru, £6 (3), £5 15s; Mr. Newell, Tokoroa, £6 ; Mr. F. J. Goodwin, Te Poi, £4 10s ; Mr. F. Barugh, Matamata, £6 10s (each two empty cows). The bulk of the two-year springing heifers were passed but the following sales were made : Mr. J. Dawson, Te Poi, £ls (3), £l2 10s ; Mr. F. J. Downie, Peria, £ll 10s (2), £9 10s ; Mr. Webster, Hinuera, £ll ; Messrs. Redshaw and Son, £ll ; Mr. Hall, £S 10s. Tho'se sold brought over £l2O and the average was £l3 Bs. The following prices were paid for cows in milk : Mr. F. Richmond, £lO, £l7 (heifer): Mr. Webster, £9, £8 10s; Mr. Allwood, Lichfield, £3 ss,

£9, £7 ; Mr. J. Dawson, Hinuera, £lO ; Mr. M. Lang, Okoroire, £7 ; Mr. Geo. Conder, Hinuera, £8 5s ; Mr. T. Anderson, Tirau, £4 5s ; Mr. Fitness, £5 (3). Yearling heifers were bought by Mr. W. McLean, Walton, pen of 17 £4 18s, pen of 6 £3 17s Gd.

Two yearling steers ware brought by Mr. T. Anderson at £3 ss. Of the purebred Clydesdale draught horses offered Lorna Doone, a noted prize winner, was passed in at £IOO. Two young purebred mares were bought by Mr. L. Davis, Ngarua, at 30 guineas, and by Mr. F. J. Downie at 20- guineas. A farm hack realised £9. '

Implements fetched the following prices : Chain harrows 10-, tine harrows £2 ss, hay sweep £1 10s. hay stacker £l2 ss. mower £l7 10s, topdresser £lB, cultivators £2 and £6, double-furrow plough £8 10s, tripod harrows £4 15s.
