FISHING LICENSES.
DAY LICENSES FAVOURED. On Lake Arapuni. The question of part season licenses for fishing on Lake Arapuni was discussed at the annual meeting of the Putaruru branch of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society on Tuesday. | Mr. Fitzgerald was of the opinion that Arapuni was different to Rotorua and Taupo. He favoured whole . season licenses. I ' Mr. Snell remarked that it was remarkable the number of fishermen
wanting day licenses, a statement agreed to by Mr. McGill (Arapuni), but Mr. Fitzgerald gave it that these people could not be regarded as fishermen, otherwise they would have licenses. i Mr. Cotter suggested that full season and day licenses be issued. I In reply to Mr. Peters, it was stated that arrangements could be made for the issuing of day licenses at Arapuni. ] On the motion of Mr. Cotter, it was decided to recommend the Auckland Society to issue day licenses at a fee of 2s 6d per day, in addition to season licenses, the same to be available on Lake Arapuni. Mr. McCarthy, of Arapuni, was recommended and is to be asked to assume the control and issue of these licenses if they are issued.
