EXTENDING THE SUPPLY. Chief Engineer’s Report. Included in 'the report submitted by uie ciuef engineer (Mr. N. G. McLeod) to tne Thames Valley l ower Hoard was the lonowing:— Morrinsville District. Kiwitahi Rord.—All poles have been erected for the 11,0U0 volt line on this l-oad and the nigh tension wiring is nearly completed. Roache’s Road.—All poles have been erected on this ■ 11,000 volt extension and the low tension wiring has been run. Temporary supply from the Piako transformer has been available since June 26. The high tension wiling is being proceeded
Horrell’s Road. —Work is proceeding on the reconstruction of this line from low tension to 11,000 volts. Farmer’s Road, Waitoa—The work of changing one mile of low tension line on this road to 11,000 volts has been completed, and a new transformer station built. Supply has been given from the new position, considerable improvement in supply being obtained. ' Matamata District. Low Tension. and provision for seetionising the supplies from the Stock road and factory transformers has been effected, and heavier cable has been run on Tower road east to give better supply. Hirst’s Road, Te Pci.—The lowtension has been extended 15 chains on this road to give further supply. Campbell's Road, Walton.—The final section of this road and Hemming’s road, which were previously operated at 3000 volts have been made alive at 11,000 volts. Soldiers’ Settlement, Te Poi.—The transformer supplying this road was shifted about one-third of a mile further down the road to improve supply. At the same time 7/14 low tension was run back to Hinuera road and the load adjusted between the settlement and McNab’s transformers.
Te Poi-Waiomo 11,000-volt Line. —The connection between Te Poi and Rotorua road has been completed except for a section switch. The line will be one of the main feeders when Matamata sub-station comes into full operation. Okoroire.—A street light has been installed at the intersection of the Hinuera and Tirau-Cambridge roads for the Matamata County Council. Tauranga Road Low Tension Extension.—Poles have been erected for an 18-chain extension on this road to give supply to a new shed. Waharoa.—Poles have been distributed for half a mile on the branch road off Weeks’ road to supply Messrs. Hedley and Troughton. The present bad state of the road prevents further work being done. Scherer’s Road, V/aharoa.—Work was commenced on June 27 to extend the 11,000 volt line up this road to give further supply. Work is proceeding.
